Conventions of CD covers

I noted down all of the conventions of CD covers so that I would easily be able to establish what I would and should include to fit the expectations of a CD cover.  However, I noted them so I could also challenge these conventions to make my designs unique.
  • People
  • Band
  • Photo
  • Art design
  • Album name
  • Artist name
  • Spine has the album name and artist
  • The back contains the names of all the songs
  • Variety in position of titles
  • Size changes
  • Photography of others
  • Extra stickers for advertising
  • Spine contains music company's label
  • Extra cover
  • Variety of whether the artist or album name is larger (artist name bigger for LTA - not as well known band, therefore they need to promote their name)
  • Contains small print of company name
  • Info of artist/album story
  • Barcode - bottom of album
  • Album name shares name with track
  • Style of visuals connotes the artist's persona and the genre
