After receiving back my grade for my coursework, I have decided to re-submit it. As I was not happy with my end product of the video, I think it is better for me to film again. I believe that I rushed my previous video in filming and editing; therefore I am going to spend more time on this to ensure that I have a substantial amount of footage with a variety of shot types and transitions.
In order to keep my previous research relevant, I have kept the same themes and ideas as before as well as the music. I think that it was sensible of me to challenge media norms by approaching the creation of a music video with an alternative music genre. I believe fellow students have tended to stick with mainstream music when creating music videos. I think it is important to show a variety in music by using a different genre as the media has developed in to many different genres over time.
However, it was my technique of creating, filming and editing the actual video itself that brought me down in marks. I am going to change the characters and setting in the video. I have decided that it will be better for continuity to keep the shots in the same area. This would avoid confusion from the target audience of what the different settings are supposed to be. It enhances the idea that the band is practicing for their tour which can be supported by the lyrics of the song, ‘we are lads on tour’ and ‘we are miles away from the place that we’re playing’.
With my previous video, it was obvious that the boys I had used were not musicians and that the shots of the gigs were evidently not them. I think that due to being rushed with time for creating the video, I had tried to fill in parts of the video with the gig shots. In these clips, there wasn't a variety of shot types or transitions. This would have brought my mark down as there wasn't much continuity or diversity in the right form.
With the new band I am going to use, they have been playing and performing for a few years. This will be clear in my video with the equipment that is displayed in the video. The band has a great amount of equipment ranging from amplifiers, guitars, microphones and audio control systems. Also, one of the members of the band has a high quality definition Canon 550d DSLR camera which I am going to use to create the video.

By making a new video, I have been able to re-evaluate my original ideas and I will spend a longer time on editing the different transitions. I believe this area is where I didn't do so well in it previously. Also, the bad quality of the video before meant that I wasn't able to display the trasnitions and different shot types very well as they were not very clear; I hope to change this with my new video by using a newer version of windows movie maker.
